I received a request to re-release something from my far past. Released in the early 90’s, a song I wrote in the mid-late 80’s as a result of the turbulence in the world at the time. Yes the world was just as violent as it is today; the Iran-Iraq war, “The Troubles” in North Irland, Sri Lankan Civil War, the Civil war in Afghanistan… and the list goes on and on. In all these years we haven’t learned a fucking thing!
THE KINGS LESSON I’ve seen how life goes I’ve read the news today Faces bruised and battered We’re going now to play with our children Teach them right from wrong Show them our footsteps Make them feel they belong somewhere in this lost and lonely song And all the kings horses And all the Kings men Came home again Once again With their children by their sides With tears and with laughter These things you must not hide from your children No answers left untouched They’ll grow with deep roots now And all the kings horses And all the Kings men Came home again Words & Music by Mark Patrick ©1993
